Upcoming : Certiphyto approval

01 June 2013

In 2013, Soufflet Agriculture and Soufflet Vigne are going to see a major development in their business, with the implementation of France’s 2018 EcoPhyto plan (in line with the EU Directive on Sustainable Use of Pesticides). By next October, all Technical Advisors must have been certified, and the companies themselves approved. A carefully prepared for challenge.

A hundred new rules

Four new regulatory frameworks that detail exactly one hundred requirements to be complied with, have lead us to change all our activities. The two main aspects can be summarised as:

    • the requirement to inform customers in stores about plant protection products (PPP) and Best Agricultural Practices, by both notices and word of mouth;
    • the requirement to justify and record recommendations in the PPP domain.

Our business is changing

The new Certiphyto approval requirements are going to change our offer. Recording advice is at the centre of the new requirements: for any treatment made or detected on a plot, we must be able to prove its relevance. Our Technical Advisors must issue advice and recommendations wholly suited to the customer’s needs.

Soufflet Agriculture and Soufflet Vigne are thus shifting to a new form of support for their customers, of even higher quality, and resolutely focused on adding value to the service. The next step in July, is for the audit prior to the new anticipated approval. Change is irreversibly under way.

Tablets “make desk-top computers look old hat”

“The requirement to record our advice gives us the opportunity to add further value to our services. Advice is frequently given in the farmyard or in the middle of a field. So an ultra-mobile solution is needed, a tablet, which will enable complete, direct recording as well as full, instant access to our offer. Tested in the Brie- Champagne region by twelve Technical Advisors, the tablet was the winner. It really does make desk-top computers look old hat, and is significant progress for serving our customers .” Alexandre Hallier, “Certiphyto Agriculture” project manager.

Our approach

Right from the outset, the Soufflet Group developed itself in the wheat and barley industries by broadening the scope of its activities and acquiring more in-depth expertise from collection to transformation. Controlling all aspects of the production chain, in order to serve all its stakeholders, has always been our culture.
