Cereal storage: a three-year investment plan

09 October 2013

Silo Nogent-Sur-Seine

Two 50m high, 13.7m diameter silos are sprouting from the ground at our Nogent-sur-Seine site. For summer 2014, six silos will be built as well as a 400 tonnes/hour receiving pit.

These new facilities are part of a three-year investment plan that the Soufflet Group confirmed this spring to increase its storage capacity (by an additional 250,000 tonnes) and ensure that cereals stay in optimal condition.

This is because Soufflet Agriculture, which is gaining market share, is advancing strongly in buying cereals. It increased from 3.8 Mt in the 2011/2012 year, to 4.2 Mt in 2012/2013.

Construction and extension work is also taking place at other sites, such as Bouhet (in France’s Charente-Maritime) where the construction of two silos with a 6,000t capacity each has just been completed. At Pithiviers (Loiret), construction work on a 21,000 tonnes metal silo for the 2014 harvest is also beginning.

With its new investment plan, the Soufflet Group is developing all the infrastructure necessary to ensure quality storage for its manufacturer customers.
